Dessert- Italian Fruit Trifle

Italian Fruit Trifle
Ingredients:

1 Angel Food cake
6 cups fresh fruit, strawberries, blueberries ,raspberries and blackberries.
10 oz. whipping cream
16 oz. ricotta cheese
6 oz. Grand Marnier or Triple Sec
3/4 cup Sugar, plus 2 tbsp.
Zest of one lemon
Juice of one lemon
1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions:

Clean and slice your fruit, toss with 1/2 cup of sugar and set aside. Slice Angel food cake into small pieces. Whip cream with Vanilla and remaining sugar, fold in Ricotta cheese, lemon zest and juice. Now you are ready to assemble, alternate layers of starting with the cake, cream and then fruit. Lightly drizzle the orange liquor on the cake layer. Be sure to end with the fruit on top. You can serve immediately or refrigerate.
Make sure the ricotta cheese is fresh and soft. Otherwise stir it for awhile to get creamy. I also use the sugar to sweeten to your taste. You can have store bought Angel Food Cake or make your own.

I have made a wonderful trifle almost like this, but it used instant vanilla pudding instead of ricotta. And there was no liquor, but what's the fun of that, LOL! Anyway, looks to die for, my favorite kind of desserts!
